men’s basketball drops cc opener
For the second game in a row, the Muhlenberg men’s basketball team was outscored down the stretch and lost a road game, this time 50-42 to Haverford in its first
Centennial Conference game of the season.
The teams were within five points of each other for all but about 15 seconds of the first 37 minutes. Haverford (2-4, 1-0) took a 34-28 lead on a steal and dunk with 10:15 left,
but the Mules responded with an 8-0 run to go up two at the seven-minute mark.
Haverford scored the next seven points to take a 41-36 lead with four minutes to play and held off Muhlenberg (1-3, 0-1) the rest of the way.
Sophomore Ryan Foster recorded his first career double-double, pulling down a career-high 11 rebounds to go along with 10 points. Junior Mike Bernardini led all scorers
with 14 points.
